Class Opportunities

2017 -2018 Dance Class Schedule:

Tap/Jazz  (2nd – 5th)……………………………………Mondays 3:45pm – 4:45pm
Tap/Jazz  (6th – 8th)……………………………………Mondays 4:45pm – 5:45pm
Jr. Adv. Tap (6th – 8th)…………..……………..……..Mondays 5:45pm – 6:45pm
Intermediate Specialty (9th – 12th)…………………….Thursdays 6pm – 7pm
(This class will rotate focus and teach ballet, contemporary, jazz, flexibility technique)
Performance Tap (9th – 12th)..………………………..Thursdays 5pm – 6pm

Registration Fee/Tuition:                                                                    Current YAT students
$50 Registration Fee                                                                           $199/semester (1 class)
There will be a costume/accessory fee billed in Jan.                    $350/semester (2 classes)

NEW for 2017-2018

For the advanced high school student.  These students need to have an advanced dance proficiency and prior training in dance.  These will be specialty classes that rotate and focus on ballet, contemporary, jazz, flexibility, leaps/turns/tricks technique.  (no tap will be taught).

These will be drop in classes on a punch card system, so you are not committed to a set weekly schedule. The following classes will be offered weekly and you are able to attend as many of these classes each week based on your schedule.

Mondays 7:00pm – 8:00pm  (Leaps & Turns/ Flexibility & Tricks)
Wednesdays 7:00pm – 8:00pm  (Ballet)
Thursdays 7:00pm – 8:00pm  (Jazz / Contemporary)

Punch cards will expire at the end of the semester whether or not you have used all punches.  Punch cards are $100 for 10 classes.  You may purchase multiple punch cards each semester.

 

Dance Faculty

Vicky Swezey
Mrs. Swezey has an extensive teaching background with an emphasis in jazz and tap.  She has trained extensively with master teachers and choreographers including: Ann Reinking, Tommy Tune and Chita Rivera.  She has been a member of the YAT dance faculty for eighteen years, and is the director of our dance program and serves as the director of our Young Children’s Classes.

Vicky will be teaching the Performance Tap in our dance program this year.

 

Nikki Testa
After guest teaching at YAT this summer, Nikki now joins the faculty in our dance program. She has been dancing for over 15 years in many styles including tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre, hip hop, modern, contemporary, pointe, ballroom and acro. She has been teaching dance classes and choreographing musical productions for numerous theatre companies and dance schools. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, she is currently studying at Florida State University and is pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in psychology.

Nikki will be teaching the Tap/Jazz, Jr. Adv. Tap, Intermediate Specialty, and punch card classes in our dance program this year.
