Would you like to feel more confident in your ability to communicate with an audience through song? Do you want to know how to look at a song and make the kinds of decisive choices as an actor that will help you stand out at an audition? Students in our Song Interpretation class will learn how to look for the clues provided in music and lyrics to interpret a song for themselves, and acting techniques to turn that interpretation into an authentic, unique performance.
Song Interpretation Prep (Act One members) Start Date: September 3 Date/Time: Tuesdays. 5:00-6:00pm Tuition: Included with Act One tuition Students in our Song Interpretation class will learn how to look for the clues provided in music and lyrics to interpret a song for themselves, and acting techniques to turn that interpretation into an authentic, unique performance.
Audition Techniques (Junior + Senior Studio Singers) Start Date: September 4 Date/Time: Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm Tuition: Included with Studio Singers tuition Previously titled “Song Interpretation,” this class will be for our Junior and Senior Studio Singers who are looking to polish their audition skills.
Advanced Acting (Freshman-Senior Company members) Start Date: September 4 Date/Time: Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30pm Tuition: $300 for the semester For the student who wants to focus on acting technique and scene study beyond what we typically have time for in our regular weekly classes. If you’re ready to be nudged outside of your comfort zone and dive into scene work with a committed scene partner, this class is for you!
Tap 2 (By placement) Start Date: September 4 Date/Time: Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30pm Tuition: $300 per semester Better balance, improved coordination, stronger musicality– these are just a few benefits a tap class had to offer... not to mention it’s super fun! Dancers will work to expand and hone their skills, in Tap 2, and explore more challenging rhythms and tricks. Let’s face it, everyone loves watching tap numbers. Playwriting (9th - 12th grade Company members) Start Date: September 5 Date/Time: Thursdays, 3:00-4:00pm Tuition: $300 per semester Our playwriting class will give students the opportunity to explore and express themselves through writing for the stage! The class will consist of weekly writing assignments, examination of produced playscripts, and open discussion of student work with an emphasis on process, risk-taking, and finding one’s own unique voice and vision.
Tap 1 (By placement) Start Date: September 5 Date/Time: Thursdays, 6:00-7:00pm Tuition: $300 per semester Better balance, improved coordination, stronger musicality– these are just a few benefits a tap class had to offer... not to mention it’s super fun! In Tap 1, students will learn the foundational basics of the genre through various exercises and drills, and apply them to performing fun up-beat combinations. Chicago Mainstage Production (9th-12th grade Company members) Date/Time: Thursdays, 3:00-8:00pm Audition: December 2nd, 3:45-7:45pm Tuition: $440 for the production The cast list for “Chicago” will be posted on December 4th, with the first rehearsal beginning December 5th. This will work just like our regular Mainstage productions - students will check the Weekly Schedule on Mondays to see if they are called for rehearsal on Thursday. Students will not be called from 3:00-8:00pm each Thursday. The only additional rehearsal time needed will be May 2-8, which will be tech week. This production will run May 9-18.
